HID's and you

Between my buddy wanting HID's for his Caddy and me wanting it for my fog lights, I've learn't a fair amount about HID's.
I wish I had sat down and done some PageReport style research and stopped us from getting HID's installed at a local car shop in NYC.
I'd have known then what I do now.
The guy...lets call him Jose installed a kit with the wrong bulb type into my buddy's caddy.
As a result, the light beam was poor and time and money was wasted
(oh if you want to buy a H1 8000K HID kit, contact me).
After we had it ripped out, I checked to see if I could use it on my foglights and pay my buddy some amount back after all that rigmarole.
It so happens that I can't use it but in the process I've learnt 2 things:

1) There are two HID bulb types. One for projector's (like the caddy) and another for reflectors
2) There are high output 50W version out there...but I haven't found out much about them as yet

The normal HID's are 35W and while are great, I've read that the 50W's are a fair amount brighter.

Jose used a projector type in my buddy's caddy as needed but again it was the wrong bulb type. My fogs are H11 and the caddy are 9006 and mine is a reflector type.
whew.

My interest is peaking in HID's again though and I may give the HID fogs a shot. If that works out and I'm happy then I could recommend to you and my buddy a proper kit and installer (if he still wants to deal with all of this crap)

I'm done...back to work...I should do this more often :-)

Blackberry GPS rocks

I will update this blog as time goes on but my berry's GPS was a champ this past w/e. I drove down the IMAX at the palisades mall (NJ) this past friday and I used a fairly remote and tree laden route.

I did this partially b/c it is the most direct route but also because I wanted to really see how good telenav would be. On the way down, telenav tried to get me a number of times on I-84 (then I-87) insterstate and even when I passed the entrance, it tried and tried to get me back on course just as I wanted :-)

Now at some point I expected it to recalc and tell me to go the route than I know. Apparently b/c of one reason or the other it eventually told me it could not calculate the route! This surprised me but I think I understand why it did that...or at least I have a theory...

It was either b/c
1) It recalc'd so much that it gave up on me when I blatantly passed the exit
2) The connection to telenav was dropped and it couldn't get new map data.

After seeing this, I re-submitted the navigation request and voila! My route was brought up!!

The whole way there, it kept showing me the way even whem my buddy's razr was beeping dropping his cell signal time and time as we made out way down.

To conclude...so far so good! My mission is to play with it in NYC to see how quickly and accurately it directs me around town. Until then I will give this a good grade!

To Blackberry or not to Blackberry? That is obviously my question

This is not the type of post I intend to fill this blog with but here goes.

Is it? I love gadgets...I love being connected to the net..and I NEED a GPS system.
Enter the Blackberry 8800
I know a few people with "smartphones/berrys/blah blah" and some truly use it them as tools to keep in contact with the office and to help manage their chaotic lives.
Enter me
I mostly want the conveniences mentioned earlier but will I use it enough as a productivity tool? I have plans on starting my own business, but until then is it worth the cost of the phone and data plan? Most others have their company expense it, but I’m my own company in that sense.

I don't know...I fight with the decision sometimes but why should I? I think I really don't want to appear as a Blackberry poseur. You know what I'm talking about...
Its that guy/girl that has one just b/c somehow felt the need to maintain constant contact with someone out there by simply txtn’ the day away with a full keyboard, but only that.

As I write I think...why do I care?! Its my money and if I want to get a blackberry and paint it lime green and call myself “Kermit da pimp” then I should be able to....after all...this is AMERICA BOI!

"Making money hand over fist"...wtf??!!

I've found and heard different reasons as to the meaning of this one....wadda u think?
Hola

I've started this blog b/c I've been told I know a whole load of of random information that mostly turns out to be useful when you least expect it :-)

I'll start this out by posting my responses to the random questions that pop up on occasion and my thoughts on the little things that pop up in a daily routine.

Wooot!!

Ah....I finally have a blog to spew the useless information I have to whomever is foolish enough to listen.
The Thinkinggiant's founders had inspired this blog and have encouraged me to create one and though no one knows where this will go, it can't possibly be a bad thing ;-)
